REMOVAL OF BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH CAPSULECTOMYINSTRUCTIONS FOLLOWING SURGERYIMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY 1. a. After surgery, rest quietly for the first 48 hours. Ice packs should be applied to the breasts. Stay in the company of a responsible adult. b. You may feel some pain and/or pressure; this will gradually subside and the medication your doctor orders for pain will help. You will have a bandage/dressing on the breasts and you may have drains inserted. The drains are removed before you leave the hospital. c. Diet as tolerated. Start with clear fluids and increase as tolerated. d. Lie on your back not on your side. Do not sleep on your stomach for 4 weeks. e. Do not raise your arms above shoulders or do any lifting for two weeks. f. You may drive a car after 1 to 2 weeks. g. Avoid smoking for one week after surgery to prevent coughing and possible bleeding.
2. a. Dressings shall be removed approximately 48 hours post-operatively. b. Shower as normal. c. Clean all incision lines thoroughly with Hydrogen Peroxide 3% with gauze or cotton buds. d. Dry thoroughly with gauze. e. Apply antibiotic ointment to incision lines. f. Tape incision lines as instructed with wide steri-strips and if necessary,padding such as gauze or a non-adhesive dressing (e.g. Telfa) g. Tape breasts as instructed with ‘Hypafix’ tape, then put on the bra. Follow this routine daily for 7 - 14 days. h. After the bra has been put on following surgery, wear it day and night for 4-6 weeks/or as your doctor instructs you. You may change it as you desire. i. Sutures will be removed in the office, 7 - 14 days after surgery.
3. a. Pain/discomfort experience varies considerably from person to person. Use Panadeine Forte 1 or 2 tablets every 3 to 4 hours, but no more than 8 tablets per day. If pain persists, contact Doctor. b. Stay in the company of a responsible adult. c. CALL THE OFFICE if one breast becomes more painful or swollen on 9362 7400. d. Do not take Aspirin or Aspirin containing products and no Vitamin E for 2 weeks. e. Recommence Hormone replacement therapy under Doctor’s instructions. f. No alcohol for a week after surgery. g. Do not make any legal decisions while under the influence of medication. i. Take any additional medication as described.
FIRST WEEK - a. Do not drive the car. b. No house work, cooking or lifting. c. Do not lift your arms above your head. (e.g. washing your hair, hanging out washing or ironing. d. No lifting, bending or exercise. Expect that you may feel tired and or restless during the first week, so get adequate sleep/rest. SECOND WEEK- a. Gradually resume routine activities. b. You should be back to normal by the end of the second week. c. Drive with caution and keep arms low. d. No heavy exertion or exercising is permitted during the first six weeks. ONE MONTH- a. Do not sit in the sun for 4 weeks as this could cause excessive swelling and other problems. SIXTH WEEK - a. Do not play golf, tennis, swim laps in a pool, ride horseback or motorcycles, or participate in other activities involving the upper body for six weeks. b. Nipple sensation may be adversely affected temporarily or rarely permanently. To purchase prior to surgery for dressings:
