ANTI-WRINKLE (BOTULINUM) INJECTIONS

INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOWING TREATMENT

  1. Try to exercise your treated muscles for the 1st hour after treatment (e.g. practise frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting. This helps to work the injection into your muscles. Although this may help your procedure outcome, it will NOT impact on your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.
  2. Do NOT have a facial, nor rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours after your treatment.
  3. Do NOT lie down or do strenuous exercise for 3 hours after treatment. Also avoid any exposure to a sauna, hot tub or tanning for 4 hours. This will prevent your blood pressure from rising and thus minimise the risk of bruising after treatment.
  4. Please be aware that some patients experience a mild headache. If this occurs for you, simply take a Panadol as needed.
  5. Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Nurofen or other anti-inflammatories because it can increase your chance of bruising.
  6. Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours after your treatment. There is a small risk of bruising. If this occurs, do not worry since it will only be temporary and can easily be covered with makeup. Any little bit of bruising may last up to one week.
  7. Anti-wrinkle injections take two to three days to begin to work. Therefore there may be no change evident prior to this time. The treatment can take up to two full weeks to take full effect. If, after two weeks, you feel that you still have more muscle movement than you like, then please contact us on (02) 9362 7400 to arrange for a post injection assessment.
  8. Anti-wrinkle injections require a special technique in order to customise the injections to your individual muscular structure. Therefore, over the next few months, it is important that your muscle activity recovers BUT that your skin is not creasing to the point from where you started.
  9. Anti-wrinkle injection is a temporary procedure and at first, you may find that your treatment results will last approximately 3 or 4 months. If you maintain your treatment appointments with the frequency recommended, the duration of each treatment result may last longer than 4 months.
  10. Initially, we normally see our patients between the 3rd month (12 week) and 4th month (16 week) time period. We are able to create the best clinical results for you during this period. If you allow Anti-wrinkle to completely wear off, it is difficult for us to be able to see how your individual muscles reacted and therefore optimal results for your face are harder to achieve.
  11. We offer the special service of contacting you as a reminder prior to your booked appointment. If that date/time is not suitable, we will be more than happy to adjust it to fit your schedule.
  12. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office on (02) 93627400.
