To counter the effects of ageing, more and more people are considering facial rejuvenation surgery. Popular surgical procedures include facelifts, mid facelifts, necklifts, minimal incision facelifts, brow-lifts, eyelid surgery (for both the upper and lower eyelids) as well as resurfacing of the skin using chemical peels and/or lasers. Facelifts are performed to re-establish the jaw line, softening and correcting the sagging of the lower areas of the face. The mid facelift can be used to remove wrinkles or folds around the mouth and is often combined with a cheek implant to give a fuller, more youthful appearance around the cheekbones. These procedures should be combined with a necklift when loose skin is also present around the neck. The upper third of the face can be surgically rejuvenated if necessary via eyelid surgery and/or browlifts, which smooth and raise the brow. Not all of the signs of ageing, however, require surgery. Facial lines can now be treated with anti-wrinkle and/or injectable fillers. Skin resurfacing procedures can also help with fine lines, pigmentation or skin tone. Many people are finding that these treatments are helping them to improve their appearance in the time before surgery as well as helping them to maintain their results longer after they have had surgery. |
