I want my nose improved but I still want to look like me.

Filed under: Cosmetic surgery, Rhinoplasty, nose surgery - 13 Aug 2008

Most patients want improvement – not change.  Many patients in my practice voice a concern about having plastic surgery that they feel might make them look like someone else.  After years of looking at yourself in the mirror or of your family and friends looking at you it is normal to be concerned about too great a change.

I know my neck is starting to sag but the rest of my face seems to have aged as well.

Patients usually come to me with something that bothers them: their eyelids, their neck, etc. However, to rejuvenate a face we have to address the entire face and the ageing process as it affects each particular patient. So it is common to perform a facelift at the same time as a necklift and eyelid surgery.

Can I tell the implant size I need by the bra size I want to wear?

Breast size, bra size and implant size cannot be directly compared. Correct sizing of patients is important because no two women are the same, no woman has the same exact same sized breasts on both sides and no two bras are the same, but two implants by the same manufacturer will be the same size.

Thermage® (or radiofrequency delivered to the skin) is the only nonsurgical means of tightening the skin. Thermage® is all about maintenance and contouring. Amazingly, unlike many laser treatments which require multiple treatments, Thermage® produces results the first

What is a ‘Mummy Makeover’?

A “mummy make-over” is a one stage procedure of restoring the body contour by performing a breast augmentation or lift, a tummy tuck and liposuction. I want my nose fixed but am worried I will end up with a “cute” nose.”

Filed under: Male cosmetic surgery, Rhinoplasty - 01 Jul 2008

Dr Hodgkinson comments: It is important whether male or female that surgery to the nose be carried out with a sensitivity to the patient’s face, gender, ethnic background and family resemblance. Experts in nose surgery/ rhinoplasty can individualise the result for each patient

What type of implant do you use for breast augmentation?

I’m often asked this question. In contrast to many surgeons who prefer to use one particular type, I use every sort of implant as well as a wide range of incisions to insert them. This flexibility is important to meet the patient’s desires and obtain the optimal individualized
